From Barre to Pointe work, Ballet is an art form centered around precision and quality of movement. Although Ballet is recognised for its grace, it also requires athleticism. We offer classes for all age ranges and abilities, be it pursuing it as a hobby or looking to develop your talent further.
Jazz and Modern are styles performed to Pop music. Although mostly characterised as being funky and upbeat, Jazz also has a lyrical side to it. Often Ballet is closely linked with these two styles. Having a good grounding in Ballet is often the key to being a successful performer in Jazz and Modern.
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.
Tap dancing is all about rhythm. It is recognised as a form of percussion made by tap shoes as they strike the floor. There are several variations and styles of Tap e.g “Soft Shoe”, “Street” or “American”. Tap is a great way to develop a better understanding of music as it encourages dancers to work on their timing and syncopation.
Musical Theatre and Drama
Musical theatre is a form of performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. It like dancing offers many different styles and sub-genre. Often Musical Theatre is classed as either Classical or Contemporary, but more specifically it offers styles such as Rock, Pop, Opera and Jazz. Musical Theatre is a great way of amalgamating a performers skills into a a cohesive performance.
Drama is a great way to explore imagination and creativity. It offers the chance to develop characters and become more in tune with emotional responses. Drama Classes offer a mixture of script work and improvisation.
